Project:::To convert an ex London Transport double-decker bus into a motorhome for 2 families and a severely disabled child with complex medical needs. The requirements are therefore Sleeping areas, Kitchen area, Lounge area (seating for travel) and Special needs area Utilities: Power, water & waste disposal.
The special needs area will in many ways mirror a pediatric hospital cubical with Suitable height bed (waist height) Oxygen Suction, Storage, Ample power for medical equipment, Hoisting facility and a Small Fridge.
The vehicle chosen is a 1985 MCW metrobus mk1, these seem to be popular for conversion as project buses probably due to their simple body construction and the fact that they are just past the age where they are no longer wanted for passenger service use. Here we are going to document our journey. The internet also seems to lack technical information on the metrobus despite thousands being made so we hope we can collect some and display that here too.
